The professor and teacher in economics José Luis Peydró joints the Supervisory Board as an independent vocal and the current general director of Industry, Matilde Villarroya, as proprietary member. With these designations, the CEO, three proprietary member and five independent members, forms the maximum government organ of the ICF.
The Government of the Generalitat has nominated today two new members of the Supervisory Board the ICF. As an independent member, José Luis Peydró, professor and teacher of economics at University Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and other centers and institutions of interational European prestige; and as a proprietary member, Matilde Villarroya, general director of Industry of the Department of Business and Knowledge of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
The designations have carried out after the favorable report of the Appointments and Remuneration Committee of the financial entity regarding their suitability, knowledge and previous experience, as it marks perceptively the European and state regulations for the entities of credit.
With these two designations, the CEO and Chair, 3 proprietary counselors (in representation of the Generalitat de Catalunya) and 5 independent counselors of recognized prestige for their professional trajectory, form the maximum government organ of the ICF.
José Luis Peydró
Born in Barcelona in 1972, he has a degree in economics for the Univeristat de Barcelona (UB), master in economics of the Centro de Estudios Monetarios y Financieros (CEMFI), associate with the Bank of Spain, and in finances for the school of businesses and center of research INSEAD, as well as doctor in Finances for INSEAD.
At present, he is professor and teacher of economics of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) through the Institució Catalana d’Investigació I Estudis Avançats (ICREA). Moreover, is an associated investigator from the Centre Economic Policy Research (CEPR) of London and professor of finances of the Imperial College of London.
Peydró is recognized by his research in banks and systemic risk, published in the main international magazines in economy and finances and presented to the most prestigious universities of the world. Currently, he is member of the European Systemic Risk Board in Frankfurt, as well as advisor of the Bank of Spain and of the European Central Bank since year 2011.
Matilde Villaroya
Born in Tortosa in 1968, she has a degree in industrial engineer for the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and doctor in Economy and Business for the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV). At present, she is the general director of Industry of the Department of Business and Knowledge of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
Formerly, she had been a full professor of the Department of Business Management of the URV, task that she has combined since 2003 with different projects of transfer of knowledge with companies and public and private institutions.
Between 2007 and 2015, she was been town counselor and deputy major of Economics, Treasury and Staff of the town council of Tortosa.
