In January and February 2022, the foundation secured five ICF Social Housing loans to expand its residential and shelter services. Resilis has drawn on this facility to buy 18 properties which will enhance quality of life for at-risk children and teenagers.

Since the start of the year, the ICF has arranged five ICF Social Housing loans with the Resilis Foundation for buying properties to provide shelter for 20 young people. The foundation has offices in Girona, Barcelona and Tortosa and runs a number of projects across Catalonia to improve quality of life for children and teenagers at risk of social exclusion and enable them to lead an independent and rewarding life. The foundation’s name, Resilis, is inspired by the concept of resilience which is people’s ability to adapt to withstand and come through challenging circumstances and destabilising events in their lives.
One of the foundation’s core programmes is its residential and shelter services which can cater for around 400 children and teenagers. Resilis has purchased 18 properties financed by the ICF. “The ICF Social Housing facility is a product tailored to the complexity of this type of project in terms of time and approach,” notes Jordi Pascual i Pèlach, the foundation’s CEO. “It has enabled us to secure funding for the initial investment and the refurbishment of the properties, so the ICF’s input has been crucial.”
Pascual i Pèlach points out that ties between the Resilis Foundation and the financial institution go back a long way. “Over the years the ICF has funded numerous investment schemes in which we have set up new residential facilities and also refurbished them.”
Looking further ahead, the foundation’s projects are to be built on sustainability and digitalisation to continue delivering quality care and ensure that its programmes stay on track. “We’re seeking to reinvest in new technologies, process digitalisation, connectivity and database analysis,” says Pascual i Pèlach. “And also in things like energy self-generation systems, building sustainability and sustainable mobility.”
