Catalan Government appoints Vanessa Servera i Planas as CEO of the Institut Català de Finances

Servera, until now the institution’s General Director of Finance & Operations, takes over from the ICF’s current CEO Jordi Òliva Ritort.

The Catalan Government has today appointed Vanessa Servera i Planas as CEO of the Institut Català de Finances (ICF), an institution she has been associated with for over 20 years, the last five as its General Director of Finance & Operations. During this time, Servera has gained extensive experience in analysing and awarding funding to businesses and has also handled internal issues concerning the ICF’s finances, technology and relations with European public banking. She has additionally coordinated strategic projects such as digital transformation, legal approval and IT system migration.

Servera takes over from the ICF’s current CEO Jordi Òliva Ritort, and the Catalan Government would like to thank him for his help in safeguarding the institution’s financial health and soundness.

Born in Tarragona in 1976, Vanessa Servera i Planas holds a degree in Physics from the University of Barcelona (UB) and a master’s degree in Finance from the Institut d’Estudis Financers (IEF). She has a postgraduate certificate in Prevention, Restructuring and Insolvency Proceedings from Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) and has completed the General Management programme at IESE and the Executive Programme in Strategy & Operations at Stanford Business School. She has earned Financial Risk Manager certification from the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP).

Servera started her career at the ICF as a Financial Analyst (2001-2004), continued as Head of Lending (2004-2008) and finally became Financial Director (2008-2009). After a two-year interlude as Director General of Finance and Risk at the Instituto del Crédito Oficial (ICO), she rejoined the ICF as Director of Finance, Control, Operations and Processes (2012-2017). Since April 2017, she has been its General Director of Finance & Operations.

In education, she currently lectures on Digital Banking on the Barcelona Business School’s International Master’s in Banking and has taught banking professionals on Financial Risks, Value at Risk and Customer Analysis in Corporate Banking on various courses and master’s degree programmes.

The Institut Català de Finances is Catalonia’s public financial institution. Its main mission is to foster funding for the business community in Catalonia in order to support the growth, innovation and sustainability of the Catalan economy. The ICF acts as a complement to the private sector by offering a wide range of financing solutions focusing on loans, guarantees and venture capital.
