The company transforms one of its warehouses in Santa Margarida i els Monjos to accommodate the new production line and will create 30 new jobs

The ICF has financed GEDIA, a company specialising in the supply of metal assemblies for the automotive industry, with a loan of 8.4 million euros to develop a new key component for the electric vehicles that will be manufactured by Seat and Cupra in Martorell and Volkswagen in Pamplona from 2026.
With funding from the ICF, the company is transforming one of its warehouses in Santa Margarida i els Monjos (Alt Penedès) to house the new production line with the aim of manufacturing 2,800 units per day from 2028, which will generate 30 new jobs among technical and operational staff.
GEDIA will thus be in charge of supplying this component to all the Volkswagen Group's factories in Spain, where the multinational automotive company expects to produce 600,000 vehicles a year with this new product.
"The transformation of the facilities will allow us to implement new, more efficient technologies and advanced systems for supply chain management. We are ready to respond to an industrial challenge that is not within the reach of any company in the sector," explained David Martín, Managing Director of GEDIA Spain and COO of the GEDIA Group.
"With this financing operation, we are promoting a key industry for Catalonia and supporting a project that also contributes to sustainable mobility and the creation of new job opportunities. This is and must be the mission of public development banking," said ICF CEO Vanessa Servera. Industry was the sector most financed by the public financial institution in 2024 with a total of 205 million euros in loans and guarantees.
The component manufactured by GEDIA, called MQT, is essential in the manufacture of vehicles, as it joins the sides of the car and serves as a support for the air conditioning system and the central display. Developed by the company in collaboration with the Volkswagen Group, it meets the specifications of new generation electric vehicles, which must be accessible to the general public and have a range comparable to that of the combustion vehicles they will replace.
With more than 330 employees and an annual turnover of more than 90 million euros, GEDIA is one of the main economic engines of the Alt Penedès. The Catalan company founded in 1997 is owned by the German multinational GEDIA Automotive Group, with more than 110 years of experience in the development of components and structures for the automotive industry.
