Lidera Advanced Technologies

€55 Million Investment Fund Targeting Technology Transfer Projects and Intellectual Property Rights, as well as Pre-Seed, Seed, or Start-Up Companies

What is the Lidera Advanced Technologies Fund?

The Lidera Advanced Technologies Fund aims to promote technology transfer projects originating from universities and research centers in Catalonia. It invests from the earliest stages and supports subsequent financing rounds to facilitate technological development, the valorization of intellectual property, and the creation and growth of new companies based on advanced technologies.

Its investment focus is on major technological trends with high growth potential and structural impact, particularly in sustainability, key enabling technologies, and medtech. The fund targets solutions that transform the energy sector, such as energy storage, production and distribution, recycling, bioplastics, CO₂ capture, or green hydrogen, as well as deep tech areas such as photonics, nanoelectronics, quantum, IoT, robotics, new materials, 3D printing, and artificial intelligence.

Additionally, the fund invests in medical innovation focused on prevention, diagnosis, monitoring, treatment, and care, with a strategy combining early-stage companies with more mature ones, capable of attracting follow-on capital and generating significant exits.

The fund is key to channeling Catalonia’s scientific output toward economic growth and social development, transforming the ecosystem, fostering the creation of more and better companies, and facilitating the transition of researchers into the business world as entrepreneurs.

The fund was created through a strategic alliance between the EIF and ICF, aimed at promoting technology transfer in Catalonia. Of the €55 million, €30 million is provided by the Generalitat, €15 million by the European Investment Fund, and the remaining €10 million by private investors.
