ICF provides €3.3 million to finance the energy refurbishment of a residential building in Lleida built more than 45 years ago

Institut Català de Finances (ICF) has provided €3.3 million in financing to the homeowner's association El Balcó de Lleida to carry out the comprehensive energy refurbishment of a building that is more than 45 years old.

The project, which will benefit the 119 homes in the building at 48 Doctor Combelles Street, includes the installation of photovoltaic panels and a more efficient aerothermal system for heating, cooling and domestic hot water, as well as new external thermal insulation on the façade, which will reduce heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer.

In addition, the window and door frames will be replaced, and the piping will be renewed to prevent potential leaks or breakdowns.

Overall, according to estimates by the homeowners’ association, the works financed by Catalonia’s public promotional bank will generate energy savings of around 1,300 MWh.

“ICF not only stands alongside Catalonia’s business and social fabric, but is also there to support homeowner's associations in promoting energy improvement projects like this one, which benefit household finances and help move towards a more sustainable world,” said Vanessa Servera, CEO of ICF.

Loans on favourable terms for sustainable projects

ICF has financed the total cost of the project, amounting to €3.3 million, through two operations: an ICF EcoVerda InvestEU loan of €1 million and an advance of €2.3 million from a grant awarded by Agència de l'Habitatge de Catalunya (AHC).

The ICF EcoVerda InvestEU loans are backed by a guarantee from the European Investment Fund (EIF), with the support of the European Union through the InvestEU programme, aimed at improving access to financing on favourable terms for sustainable investments in Catalonia, such as energy efficiency projects, renewable energy, sustainable mobility or water savings, among others.
